I am currently attending the Healthy Kitchens, Healthy Lives conference in St. Helena, CA. It's put on by the Harvard School of Public Health and the Culinary institute of America (CIA). Dr. David Eisenberg's vision of healthcare providers collaborating with chefs and the food industry to create nutrition programs that will change the lives of adults and children is truly innovative and inspiring. By involving our patients from beginning to end: by shopping, cooking and creating delicious meals, we can treat and prevent diabetes, cardiovascular disease and so many other health problems that affect children and adults alike.
Over the course of this year I will be implementing a lecture series called "Elevate Wellness" that will combine nutrition, cooking, stress reduction, mindfulness and exercise. This will redirect and stimulate the way we think about food and life!
The CIA has been feeding us around the clock! The small portions and abundance of fruits and vegetable has been utterly incredible.
Message for the day: 1/2 of your plate should be vegetables, 1/4 healthy whole-grains and 1/4 protein. Simple to remember & it will help create a healthier happier you!
