Therapeutic Massage

Massage is a manual manipulation of the body’s soft tissue for the purpose of stimulating circulation and promoting relaxation. It has been used in many world cultures for more than 4,000 years. Massage allows you a quiet time to focus on yourself and become more connected to your body. Therapeutic massage involves a combination of gentle pressure on muscles and joints to improve circulation as well as some deep tissue work which involves the therapist using her forearms, elbows or thumbs to apply pressure. Deep tissue work along with Swedish massage techniques help to loosen muscles in a specific area.

Thai Yoga Massage

The healing art of Thai Yoga Massage is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, physician to Buddha more than 2,500 years ago in India. It made its way to Thailand, where the Ayurvedic techniques and principles gradually became influenced by Traditional Chinese medicine. Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than more classic forms of massage because the therapist uses her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people say Thai massage is like doing yoga without any work. It combines rhythmic massage, acupressure and asanas (Yogic stretching exercises). People describe Thai yoga massage as both relaxing and energizing. It differs from traditional massage as it is done on a padded mat on the floor and the client is dressed comfortable clothing so limited oil or lotion is applied.

Thai Yoga and Therapeutic Massage have the following benefits

  • Relaxes muscle tissue
  • Reduces stress
  • Improves circulation
  • Increases energy
  • Increases flexibility
  • Improves range of motion
  • Treats sleep disorders
  • Treats depression
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Center the mind and body
