Acupuncture and Massage Therapy for Kids & Teens
Acupuncture is one of the most natural and gentle ways to treat children and teenagers. Because most children and teens are not encumbered with chronic medical conditions, their treatments are extremely effective and their issues are often resolved quickly and without complication.
The most natural and gentle way to treat children and teenagers
Acupuncture is used for children and adolescents with various types of conditions, including muscle pain or trauma, orthopedic/sports injuries, post surgical pain, anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, dermatological/acne, hormone imbalances, and PMS/gynecology. In our center, we use specialized pediatric acupuncture needles for virtually pain free treatment.
Safer Alternative
Acupuncture is a safer alternative from standard medical therapies for chronic pain conditions. Parents and children can look at acupuncture and other alternative medicine due to relatively low risk profile, avoiding side effects from pharmacological agents including sedation, dizziness, tolerance, nausea, constipation, and depression.
Massage Therapy
We also offer pediatric massage therapy. We respect that some children and teens may be hesitant when it comes to the idea of using acupuncture needles, so we offer a variety of massage therapy services. All of our therapists are licensed in massage therapy for children and adolescents.
Herbal Medicines
Many pediatric and adolescent conditions respond very well to certain herbal medicines, supplements, and/or loose leaf teas. We offer a variety of choices in our office and will provide guidance with regard to directions and dosing.
Nutrition Consultation
The Kokin Healing Center also provides nutrition consultation for children. Whether the condition is diabetes, obesity, allergies, or finicky eaters, our nutritional counseling is extremely effective.

Does acupuncture hurt?
To children, needles are strongly associated with pain, so the thought of having dozens of them in their skin can be terrifying. Fortunately, acupuncture needles are much thinner than a hypodermic needle and are only inserted into the very top layers of skin. We also use specially-designed pediatric needles that are even thinner than the traditional acupuncture needles used for adults, further reducing the risk of pain in your child.
If you or your child have concerns about the size of the needles or the pain they induce we’re happy for you to stop by our office and see one in person before you book your appointment!
