Kokin Healing Blog

At the Kokin Healing Center, we’re all about education. We love to empower our patients to learn how to take good care of their bodies; and we’re always learning ourselves. In that spirit, the Healing Blog is a place for us to teach and to learn. We hope you enjoy these posts and share them with friends, family and colleagues.

Ayden's Story

Jul 15, 2016

It's not every day that you get to meet a boy like Ayden! Ayden is one of the happIest children I have ever met, and what a blessing it is to have him in my practice. Ayden is 5 and has muscular dystrophy and scoliosis. He suffers from tight muscles and joints and general tension in his body. Our treatment goal is to improve the blood flow in his spine as well as loosen up his joints and muscle tissue, so that he can become less stiff and the stretching doesn't cause him as much pain. I have had the pleasure of working with him for the past four months and I can say that he absolutely looks forward to his acupuncture treatments! This little guy is so receptive to whatever is needed – whether it's acupuncture with electrostimulation, and intensive digestive treatment, or soft tissue bodywork,  he is up for it!  The best part is that is he is responding beautifully!

Acupuncture is so incredible for children. Whether a child has a muscular problems, digestive issues or sleep and anxiety issues, acupuncture and massage can be wonderful adjunct therapies. Many people wonder why children respond so quickly to acupuncture. I truly believe it is because they are not bogged down with chemicals and a lifetime of stress. I see young children as well as teenagers respond in a very short amount of time because there's nothing "blocking" their ability to receive treatment.
