Rosehip and Hawthorn Berry Tea

Feb 26, 2026

As we transition through seasonal shifts, it’s the perfect time to nourish the Heart — physically and emotionally. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Heart governs not only circulation but also joy, connection, and mental clarity. This month’s featured tea blends two vibrant botanicals known for centuries to support cardiovascular health, radiant skin, and emotional balance.

Let’s steep something beautiful.

The Power Pair: Rosehip & Hawthorn Berry Tea

This jewel-toned herbal infusion is slightly tart, gently sweet, and deeply nourishing. Both rosehip and hawthorn berry are rich in antioxidants and have long traditions in both Western herbalism and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Key Ingredients & Benefits

Rosehips. The fruit of the rose plant, rosehips are incredibly rich in vitamin C and bioflavonoids.

  • Supports immune function
  • Promotes collagen production (hello, glowing skin!)
  • Anti-inflammatory properties
  • Helps support joint health

Hawthorn Berries. Known as a premier heart tonic herb in both European and Chinese traditions.

  • Supports healthy blood circulation
  • Traditionally used to strengthen heart function
  • May help maintain healthy blood pressure levels
  • Supports emotional heartache and grief in energetic medicine

Together, they create a tea that strengthens the physical heart while gently nurturing emotional wellbeing.

Rosehip & Hawthorn Berry Tea Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon dried rosehips
  • 1 tablespoon dried hawthorn berries
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • Optional: local honey, cinnamon stick, or fresh orange peel

Instructions:

  1. Add rosehips and hawthorn berries to a small pot with water.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and steep for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Strain and enjoy the warmth. Add honey or cinnamon if desired.

Tip: This tea can also be made as a longer decoction (20–30 minutes) for a stronger medicinal effect.

Fun Herbal Facts

  • Hawthorn trees can live for hundreds of years and have historically symbolized protection and hope.
  • Rosehips contain more vitamin C by weight than many citrus fruits.
  • In TCM, hawthorn (Shan Zha) is also used to support digestion, especially after heavy or greasy meals.

When to Enjoy This Tea

  • During seasonal transitions
  • When focusing on cardiovascular wellness
  • During times of emotional stress
  • As part of a gentle detox or inflammation-support routine

As always, if you’re on heart medication or blood pressure medication, consult your healthcare provider before using hawthorn regularly.

Summary: Rosehip & Hawthorn Berry Tea

A tart, antioxidant-rich herbal tea that supports heart health, circulation, immune function, and emotional wellbeing. This vibrant blend combines traditional herbal wisdom with modern nutritional benefits — perfect for seasonal transitions and whole-body support.
